General Tips.

- Always talk to everyone in Dragon Quest even if you don't understand Japanese.

- Search drawers, pots, book cases, or any suspicious locations for items. These items may help you greatly or they may be the same trivial items.

- If you meet monsters you've never met before, then it's always better to fight defensively than offensively. They most likely could be too strong for you to fight off effectively. If that's the case, then you're probably in the wrong place at the wrong time. Dragon Quest gives you much freedom in plotting your journeys, but if you go to the wrong place, you'll meet up with monsters you stand no chance against.

- If you feel you're spending a substantially long time building your levels and you're getting impatient, then you should probably just take a chance anyways and move on to your "next destination."

- Whenever you're really stuck, then just take a look at the walkthroughs. Or ask others on message boards, newsgroups, or #dragonquest. =)
