Worthwhile Strategies.

This section will describe some pretty darn interesting strategies that have the potential for great success!

Siege the Enemy.

One of my friends (real life) likes to call this strategy "Sieging". We both have come up with slightly different methods of doing this on our own. Basically, what you do is you build structures outside of your enemy's town. These structures should include ones that make military units (i.e. barracks) or ones that are invaluable for defense (i.e. photon cannons, bunkers, shield batteries, sunken colonies, etc.) Bring some military units along too. If you're really daring, you can seal off your enemy's town with bunkers or photon cannons (make sure to load up the bunkers.) This strategy is easy for a Terran or Protoss player but sorta difficult for the Zerg (they have to build a hatchery and wait for the creep to expand.) However, the Zerg have great air defenses which will destroy all of the enemy's hopes of getting air units out to expand. Sieging often involves a risky investment especially if your enemy has allies. You must take advantage of the time the enemy is walled in; he is unable to easily expand, so you should take as many expansions as you can without leaving them defenseless.

Distractions.

Rarely does a day full of Starcraft go by without playing a game that does not involve distractions. There are countless methods of distracting your opponent. Usually, when your opponent falls for the distraction, you should charge into their town and destroy vital units/buildings. For example, you can build an isolated expansion with minimal defenses. If the enemy brings a large force over to destroy the expansion, then it would be time to attack his base(s). I would retreat after a short period of time has passed when you see his units leave your expansion.

If you're Protoss, then distracting works very well with the Hallucination spell. Hallucinate shuttles especially if it's an island map and you're enemy has lots of Scourges. He'll scourge the shuttles, thinking that they are real and boarded. You can keep sending these hallucinated shuttles and he'll continue to waste his scourges on it. If I were him, I generally WOULD waste my scourges on the shuttle. What if one of the shuttles is real?? It's better to be safe than sorry in this situation, and you should take advantage of it if your opponents agrees with that.
