General Strategies.

These strategies are basically there for you to get a good start in Starcraft. Some of them may be so fundamental that they can apply to other strategy games (War2, AOE, C&C, etc.). I may use Zerg names for buildings that have equal counterparts in the other races.

- Build a lot of workers (Drones, SCVs, or probes depending on your race.) Doing so will allow a fast and constant flow of resources. Now, don't let all that resource pile up. Spend it by building and upgrading your army, building and repairing structures, and establishing a defense for your workers. :)

- When attacking, target your opponent's workers unless they are hard to access due to defenses or other obstacles. Unless he quickly rebuilds then, he will be gathering resources at a lower rate now, so don't expect him to quickly build up a huge army right away for a counter-attack.

- Build your new hatcheries as close as possible to the resources you intend to gather. Build more than one hatchery for every location with resources. You'll produce workers faster and it'll be less congested. If you're not Zerg, build barracks or structures that train military units, so you can defend the area.

- Scout for your enemy early on. If you find him early enough, you can rush him.

- Offense is more important than defense. Defense alone won't allow you to win the game. Offense will put pressure on your enemy and he'll go on defense as a result.
