Story 2.
This game was played on my SCM, "THE Maze". I started out at the top right corner and my opponent, Jester_, was at the opposite corner. I was Protoss and he was Terran. Note that this map is very easy to figure out and my knowledge of it wasn't an advantage though. I built up and got about 6 dragoons and 4 zealots and rushed him. He barely fended off my attack with his troops inside his bunkers. I figured that he was about gone so I rushed him again with dragoons, but this time, he fought off the attack and wasn't even close to losing the battle. I figured that it was time to get some carriers and templers. While I was going for those, I established a second base in the "inner maze" (upper-left corner).
Just then, he started attacking me with cloaked wraiths, and I had only like one observer. Both of my bases were under attack and I could only send the observer to one of the bases. I quickly built more observers, but he spotted them with his Sci Vehicles. By then, his cloaked wraiths destroyed my carriers, and my templers barely had enough energy to cast Psi Storm a couple times. That wasn't really effective against his huge army of wraiths. I made a shuttle and headed for the center of the map where it was sealed off by walls and there were tons of minerals. I built tons of photon cannons and pylons in the middle. Two nexus were built to collect resources. I rescued my observers and placed them in the middle.
He discovered my base in the middle, but it was a little too late. I had strategically placed my photon cannons. Click Here and see what I did in the middle. Anyways, there were at least two pylons in range of almost every photon cannon so that if one pylon was destroyed, my photon cannons will still be functional. However, he tried using Yamato gun on the photon cannons and pylons, but I just rebuilt them after they were destroyed. Yamato gun was the only thing he could use and avoid stepping in range of the photon cannons, but it requires much energy and the energy took forever to recharge, so I had an opportunity to rebuild.
He also tried going straight for the middle, but that turned out to be a very poor choice. He lost like 2 or 3 battle cruisers, and several wraiths. Then, I noticed that he dropped off some ghosts on the surrounding wall. Fortuately, one or two photon cannons were in range and killed the ghosts. Later, he successfully launched a nuclear strike at the lower-left portion of my base in the middle!!! When the nuclear strike was launched, I spotted a ghost at the lower-left and I evacuated all of my probes from there!!! The nuclear strike left a couple buildings torn and rotting. I quickly rebuilt and I even destroyed some of the buildings will low hitpoints with my probes and replaced them. However, he continued to launch nuclear strikes. He launched them at the upper-right corner too, but again, I rebuilt quickly. I was seriously thinking that this could turn out to be a stalemate. However, he managed to launch several subsequent nuclear strikes at the lower-left and a significant number of pylons and cannons were destroyed. Instantaneously, he landed some marines, golaiths, and ghosts there backed with battlecruisers. I was seriously thinking that I'm gone for good. I frantically rebuilt some pylons and cannons. When he saw that, he went for those incomplete buildings, but the cannons in the back were in range. That's how he lost his battlecruisers, golaiths, and marines. However, he still had a ghost within range of my pylons but no cannons, so I destroyed it with my probes.
I quickly rebuilt and I scouted some portions of the map with my observers that I previously rescued. He had a base at just about every location with minerals and gas. Fortunately, he wasn't collecting much minerals and gas at every single location. By this time, there wasn't much activity going on. My opponent complained that it was boring and urged me to surrender or disconnect. I was planning on getting a shuttle out to a location north of my base that was sorta isolated from any of his bases. This location wasn't near any mineral or gas sources, but it didn't matter. I was stocking up on resources from the center. I began destroying some of my damaged buildings to make room for a Gateway, a Cybernautics core, and a robotics facility. This part took so long since I had only probes and a zealot to use for destroying my own buildings. Finally, I got my robotics facility and a shuttle. I probe was kept in the shuttle and I sent the probe north to build the base.
I eventually got that second base up and I built up a huge force of dragoons. I attacked with that force and my opponent was really surprised. He thought I was dead for sure. He fought off my force of dragoons with battlecruisers and wraiths, but by this time, I was making carriers, templers, and cannons at my second base. He performed numerous nuclear strikes at my second base, but I was able to quickly rebuild. He also attacked with battlecruisers. I PSI Stormed a bunch and killed the rest with dragoons and an archon. At the same time, I was setting up another base near minerals and gas.
Things were looking pretty good for me, and I began attacking my opponents' bases with carriers and dragoons. This time, there was little resistence. I went around the entire map and destroyed every single building my opponent had although it took quite a while. My opponent was amazed although he did admit that he shoulda attacked the middle more often (esp nuclear strikes.)
This game lasted a little over three hours, from 10:00 pm. to 1:00 am. It was probably one of my best games ever cuz I was close to defeat throughout the game, but I finally won at the end!! My opponent, unlike many players on Battle.net, was overall a good sport. Unfortunately, I failed to take a screenshot of my final results. :(
